A Publisher’s Life and Times:
What interesting times I have had since last we spoke.
On April 24th I attended the Official Grand Opening & 40th Anniversary Celebration for Fraserway RV at their new location at 30440 South Fraser Way in Abbotsford. Below is a photo of the family and chief executive members cutting the ribbon at their new location. They had a congratulations cake made from cupcakes! Looking at the top of the cake, with all the congratulations lettering, you had no idea it was made from individual cupcakes. Chocolates ones on the left, white ones on the right. That was a first for me to see, and what a practical idea eh? No cutting needed? just grab the cupcake?s paper holder from the side, and lift. (You can always trust me to be impressed by a different style of cake!)

May 2nd, I had a booth at the Rotary Club of Sooke?s 19th Annual Auction & Spring Fair. What a fun day that was! Sooke has approximately 10,000 residents and I think about 9,000 came to the event and everyone seemed to know all the others around them! It was like a great big reunion party!

Then on May 3rd I went over to the fun-filled open house party that Candan RV Center was having at their dealership on the Langley Bypass. I happily pulled the winning ticket for the weekend camping and music at the 2009 Merritt Mountain Music Festival. Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Stibbs.
On May 17th I attended the grand opening ceremonies of the Highland Games happening in Victoria. They did an entry march with all the bands playing together, and followed with performing Amazing Grace. The hair on my arms stood right up with the excitement of it all. I love the sound of bagpipe music! Must be the Scot in me! (My maiden name is Grant.)

Next, the Island Jays Singles RV Club invited me to connect with them here in Sooke for an around-the-campfire chat. They were RVing at the Sooke River Campground on the May 23rd weekend and we had a good time getting to know each other. Sure are lots of talented women RVing on their own these days. What is holding ME back?
On May 25th I celebrated my 62nd birthday and it passed easily! I connected with family members and good friends to toast the happy occasion.
The gardens around my house sprouted weeds I?ve never seen before, and I decided this was a good opportunity for me to ?get fit? (again)! What a job keeping on top of the situation. I decided to create a rock retaining wall in the back yard, and I planted summer flowers in the front yard. Now I have muscles on my muscles, as my Mom says. Much to my delight I am thoroughly enjoying it, which is a good thing as there is much to do! It has been suggested I join the Sooke Garden Club as they will help me learn more about the right way to garden, because right now it?s trial and error the way I do it.
Luckily I am connecting regularly with a registered body massage therapist here in Sooke. Sue Rowland works on all my sore muscles every two weeks, and I come away raring to go at it again!
When you come to our famous Sooke Fine Arts Show (July 24-Aug. 3), you will see me as a front door greeter on August 1st afternoon, and August 3rd morning.
A fun summer is coming this way so why not jump in and get involved?
