Satellite Portable Dish Mounts

SP0008888M

Good day sheilla. Your readers might be interested in another portable Satellite dish mount system. It is manufactured by Ranger Satellite Sytems in Grants Pass, Oregon. It is called the "Sidekick". We have utilized this system for many years. What we like most is the versatility of it's mounting system. Three (3) come to mind... Tripod mount, RV Ladder mount and ground mount. We mostly use the ladder mount, making it stable and secure to the RV. … [Read more...]

The Exploding Tire

A Big Hole in the Tire

December rolled around and we took our 5th wheel in for it's annual check-up and after replacing the brakes and repacking the wheel bearings Cathy and I set off with our RV-ing companions Geoff and Linda on our annual winter vacation to Golden Village Palms in Hemet California. We stayed at our usual Casino camping spots on the way south and watched the snow reports along the way. This year we decided to leave the I-5 and head down Hwy 99. … [Read more...]

Jayco fifth wheel

I just want to tell you our experience with our 2003 Jayco Quest 5th wheel in the hope that other owners of a Jayco won't have the same thing happen to them. We bought our fifth wheel new in the summer of 2003 and have traveled each summer for about 5 weeks on regular roads and noticed this past summer that the wheels on the trailer were almost beside the trailer as it turned in a corner. My husband decided to remove the tires to check out what … [Read more...]

Age Discrimination

SP0014524S

Yes, age discrimination, not toward my wife and I but toward our Class C RV at a RV campground in B.C. While planning our August 2012 RV trip in B.C., phoned one privately operated RV campground, which shall remain nameless and was told my Class C 1995 Corsair Aristrocrat was too old, not meeting their 1999 limit. Wondering if any other readers has come up against this? L. Whiting lwhiting@shaw.ca … [Read more...]

a must training video

rv-on bridge

Hi. We have a new trailer. It is a toy hauler, bumper hitch. The dealer we got it from said we did'nt need to upgrade to the new rv licensing, because it was a bumper hitch trailer. Dont fall for this, they are not correct. We contacted Tim at drivesaferv.com and he told us any trailer over 4600kg you had to upgrade. He has a video that helps you get trough this road test, If not for his video i dont think we would have passed the road … [Read more...]

Obtaining a Code 51 (house trailer) drivers licence Endorsement

rv-on bridge

I would like to clear up some misconceptions about the need to obtain a special endorsement if you tow a trailer that weighs over 4600kg. The actual trailer weight with all of your items that you intend to carry (including water in the holding tank, propane etc) as it sits on your driveway and not connected to your tow vehicle is the basis for your need or not to hold the special endorsement. I have just completed the exam and driving test so I … [Read more...]

Tall Fiberglass Pickup Truck Topper

rv-on bridge

My 2004 Chevy Duramax 2500HD 4wd, crew cab, long bed pickup pulls an Arctic Fox 27T trailer. But I would like to take one or two motorcycles on our travels. However, for the life of me I cannot find an ‘ultra’ tall fiberglass topper for my truck. A.R.E. and other manufactures have some possibilities but they are designed for later model trucks. I can’t believe I’m the only camper with an ‘older’ pickup that would like to transport … [Read more...]

Excessive moisture in trailer

SP0014507S

Last summer I purchased an 89 Okanagan 29ft 5th wheel trailer. The seller informed me that there had been some water leakage inside, due to snow pack around the vents, melting into the RV. In September, I resealed all the windows with Sil-flex silicone, and resealed every seam, vent and bolt hole on the roof of the RV. I believe this unit is water-tight. On a hunting trip in October, we noticed a large amount of condensation on the windows and … [Read more...]
