I just want to tell you our experience with our 2003 Jayco Quest 5th wheel in the hope that other owners of a Jayco won’t have the same thing happen to them.
We bought our fifth wheel new in the summer of 2003 and have traveled each summer for about 5 weeks on regular roads and noticed this past summer that the wheels on the trailer were almost beside the trailer as it turned in a corner. My husband decided to remove the tires to check out what the trouble was. He was astounded to see that there were large cracks and holes in the frame from front to back on both sides and that the cross member was broken. We felt that if it was left any longer without getting fixed we were afraid that the frame would collapse while we were driving and could cause death or a severe injury to someone. We decided to call the company where this trailer was built and ask them about this and that maybe they would be willing to cover the cost of fixing the problem but were advised that the warranty had expired and that it had been built as a “lite” trailer, and also that the frame was built by another company and that they had “gone” out of business. Of course we thought that by “lite” it meant that the trailer itself was meant and not the frame it was built on??? We had the cross member welded and new beams along both sides welded and bolted on. Now we would be interested to know if anyone else has had this problem with their Jayco Qwest fifth wheel and to warn others that they need to keep an eye on their frame..
