We just spent a fabulous weekend at Cayoosh Creek campground in Lillooet. Booked on line, good thing as it is a popular spot. Nice campground with grassy sites beside the Fraser river, only downside is no sani dump. Saturday afternoon brought thunder showers so we spent it in the trailer with a newspaper, books and a bottle of rum. ;) Sunday we went to Goldbridge and Bralorne, two gold mining towns well past their prime. Population 43 and 60 respectively.
It is a beautiful drive. The towns are very isolated, the road is narrow and rough in spots with rocks the size of foot balls in some places so we had to be careful. The museum at Bralorne is well done with fascinating artifacts of a bygone era. I hate to admit I am old enough to remember some of them. There is also a well maintained BC Hydro campsite along the lake that is FREE. Be prepared to spend a full day exploring.
