My companion and I were returning from the Penticton Jazz Festival on Monday, September 13th (our 14th year in attendance) and had just topped off our propane at East Gate on the Hope Princeton Highway. We always stop there to support the independent gas dealer?and get great Samosas. But our aging Class C Citation motorhome overheated.
This puzzled us as we?d put in a new water pump and thermostat just two years ago. We called Good Sam and they sent out a tow truck from Hope, via Hope Towing. Gord the very nice driver hauled us into Hope at just about 6 p.m. He went directly to the local GM dealer, as our RV has a 350 Chev engine.
They announced that they?d been notified by Good Sam that we were on the way, and they would get to us after lunch the next day. That wasn?t good enough for me and I asked where else we could get a good repair and diagnosis. He took us directly to Car Guys Automotive Ltd. (604-869-0061) at 390B Old Hope Princeton Way?just across from McDonalds.
The guys said they?d be happy to deal with us in the morning. We slept in their lot and when they arrived in the morning they promptly figured out my radiator was shot … not to worry ? they could get one in town. So while we went out for breakfast at Rolly?s in downtown Hope, and then played tourist, they put in a new radiator, road tested our unit, and had us back on the road by noon.
Their labour rate was very fair and I feel we got a bargain for the work done very professionally. The partners are Rick Riddell and Harvey Larochelle and Rick?s wife runs the office. They are CAA approved. On another note, Rick apparently used to do propane conversions and is very knowledgeable about vehicles that run on propane. We have both fuels.

Not happy with them, the car guys couldn’t find the electrical problem…all they had to do was hold the key on but not on start…changed battery, changed starter, screwed up memory in vehicle. ..should have cost me only 5 minutes labour. I think they saw the out of province plates and figured.. MONEY MONEY!
