Hi Sheila:
We just returned from a 17000 km road trip to Newfoundland, New England, and points in between. I want to relate to you and your readers about an incident that beset us and the wonderful service we received because of it.
By the time we had reached St. John, NB, it was apparent that we would be needing repairs to our Outback trailer; the ceiling rails that hold in the rear slide had broken away due to the rough roads we had been traveling on. As we were heading into the US, I started calling RV dealers along the way to determine who may be able to service our needs. I am not exaggerating when I say I called many dealers in the states of Maine, Hew Hampshire, and Massachusetts only to hear one of three responses: 1) We’re too busy and can’t take you for two weeks, 2) I’m sorry but we would have to order the parts which would take 10-14 days, or 3) We won’t order the part unless/until you come in person and pay for it yourself. Needless to say, I was frustrated.
Thankfully, I got in contact with Diamond RV Centre in Hatfield, MA and spoke with their service coordinator, Trish Della Penna. Not only did she squeeze us into their busy schedule, she ordered the parts and had them couriered on faith that we would show up the next day, and when we did show they offered to have us stay overnight in their secure compound with electricity and water. The work was done well, in a timely manner and with a smile. The invoice was honourable and as we left Trish ran out after us to let us know we could use their dump station non gratis. What could easily have been a lowlight on our trip became a highlight. We are so impressed with Diamond RV, we wanted others to know about them. You can contact them at 1 888 784 5377.
Incidentally, if you or any of your readers are interested in any part of our trip to 10 provinces and 14 states, you can check out our blog at: www.crosscanada2012.wordpress.com
Thanks for the great magazine and keep the wheels rollin’.
